Condé Nast’s list Cebu as Asia’s Best Island in 2020
Cebu landed the top spot in Condé Nast’s “The Best Islands in the World: 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards” travel magazine. Cebu shares the list with two more Philippine Islands, Palawan, and Siargao.
The famed international magazine awarded Cebu for its pristine beaches and dive spots on the island’s northern coast. Nearly two million tourists travel annually to the province for its natural attractions such as the Kawasan Falls.
The magazine also highlighted Cebu’s rich culture and history, especially the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño that houses the small statue of Christ, Ferdinand Magellan’s present after landing on the island in the 1500s.
Meanwhile, Palawan which landed the fourth spot is known to be the home of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River.
Siargao Island follows at the fifth spot. The magazine described it as a Bali-like island with its unspoiled and hidden beauty despite the influx of development in recent years.
