Excitement rises as 79th Oktoberfest approaches

METRO MANILA – The excitement goes fever pitch exactly one week before the 79th Oktoberfest in Manila.

The 79th Oktoberfest, organized by German Club Manila, will be celebrated at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza on October 6 and 7, 2017. Around 4,500 people are expected to join the German Club Manila in this annual event.

Tickets are available at the German Club Manila, reachable through (02) 894-2899, and on the Oktoberfest’s official website, www.oktobrfest-manila.ph.

In an interview with CNN Philippines earlier this morning, German Club Treasurer Andreas Klippe revealed some teasers for the upcoming celebration.

“That’s the closest to the original Oktoberfest from Munich,” said Klippe, pertaining to the 79th Oktoberfest in Manila. “It’s not only beer drinking. There’s an excellent band, the Bavarian Sound Express.”

From the day the 79th Oktoberfest has been officially announced, German Club Manila has always pointed to the rich history behind the celebration.

According to Klippe, the tradition of Oktoberfest goes back to 1810 during the wedding of Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig I to Theresa of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Since then, the people of Bavaria kept the annual “beer festival”.

The German Club is making the last calls for those interested. Tickets are available at the German Club Manila, reachable through (02) 894-2899, and on the Oktoberfest’s official website, www.oktobrfest-manila.ph.
