Trump Expected to Join the 50th Anniversary Celebration of ASEAN
US President Donald Trump is expected to attend the ASEAN’s 50th anniversary celebration in Clark Pampanga, Philippines, on November 13 and14.
The Philippines will host the celebration after the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte accepted the 2017 ASEAN Chairmanship, where he announced the theme “Partnering for change, engaging the world.”
Russian president Vladimir Putin, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and acting South Korean President Hwang Kyo-Ahn are going to join Trump and the ASEAN member-countries in the said event.
Department of Tourism director for Central Luzon Ronnie Tiotuico said in a forum that they are expecting about 4,000 people for the event.
The Clark Development Corp. (CDC) officer-in-charge Alveen Tabag said that C.M. Recto and Jose Abad Santos Avenue are set for widening in preparation for the event but the CDC official said that if the widening project will not be completed on time, the organizers of the ASEAN event will have to move to “plan B”, where they will move the event in Metro Manila.
It was said that Mimosa Leisure Estate will accommodate Trump, while the other leaders will be housed at Fontana Estate. Both are now undergoing preparations for the said event.
