NAIA Expressway Now Open for Public Use

The wait is over for the much-anticipated expressway going to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after a portion of it was made available to the Public on Thursday , September 22, 2016.

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) President Ramon Ang said, “Finally, our countrymen will feel the benefit of having faster and more direct access to NAIA Terminals 1, 2, and 3. It will also go a long way in easing traffic congestion in surrounding cities, and support growth in southern Metro Manila.”

(SMC) won the bidding to construct and operate the expressway back in April 2013.
The first segment of the P20.45-billion NAIA Expressway under the public-private partnership (PPP) program will link Terminals 1 and 2 in Parañaque to Macapagal Boulevard and PAGCOR Entertainment City in Pasay. It will be free to motorists for the first month. The second phase of the expressway is still under construction, but it is said to open to the public by December. This shall connect Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to the Skyway and the South Luzon Expressway.

After the full construction and operation of the said project, this will surely bring ease and hassle-free travel to motorist going to NAIA.The Department of Public Works and Highways said the project is expected to cut average travel time between the Skyway System or South Luzon Expressway and the NAIATerminal 1 to 8.2 minutes from the existing 24.3 minutes to date.

“We are proud to deliver phase one of the NAIA Expressway, a project that we know many have been waiting for,” Ramon Ang said on his statement.

As for signed contract under the government and (SMC), the said expressway will run for 30 years. This project will probably help in reducing the long-time problem of the country, which is the hellish traffic, especially in Metro Manila.
