Clark Freeport Zone To House 31st ASEAN Summit
On President Duterte’s acceptance of the ASEAN 2017 Chairmanship during a turnover ceremonies in Vientiane, Laos, the Philippines is now set to host the 50th celebration of the (ASEAN) across 11 cities nationwide.
Two province in the country were disclosed to house the said celebration, these includes
the 30th ASEAN Summit in March and April to be held at Mactan Island, Cebu province and the 31st ASEAN Summit in August at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga province.
In preparation for the ASEAN Summit 2017,Clark Freeport Zone is continuously improving its facilities to be able to provide a seamless and hassle-free celebration for the delegates and guest of the summit. One of which is the opening of the of (CMAR) this October which is an alternate way going to Clark to avoid the traffic on two of the main roads (Mabalacat and Angeles) going to Clark. Also, (CIAC) is increasing their flights both local and International. They are also continuously upgrading their facilities to provide better services for their passengers.
Next year ASEAN summit will revolve around the theme “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World.” A video presentation was shown after the closing ceremonies of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane. The video highlighted the Philippines’ achievements as one of the ASEAN’s founding members in 1967 and the country’s contributions to the alliance.
A simple yet meaningful message from President Duterte concluded the said video saying
“In 2017, we, the Filipinos, are proud to welcome you to 7,107 islands of beauty, wonder and fun that will make a year of memories last a lifetime. Mabuhay at dagahang salamat.”
