TESDA Allotted P28 Million Fund for the Negrenses

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has allocated about P28 million budget for the implementation of its Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP). The said allocation will cover about 4,000 recipients in Negros Occidental.

Tesda-Negros Occidental Provincial Director Joel Villagracia said that they are focusing on priority qualifications for Negros Occidental. He also said that they invited schools and institutions that will become “providers” who can accommodate the qualified applicants.

In the province of Negros Occidental there are at least 60 providers of various qualifications as of March 2017.

They offer different courses such as massage therapy, visual graphics design, contact center services, cookery, food and beverage services, electrical installation and maintenance, automotive servicing book-keeping and housekeeping.

The tendering process starts right after the holy week, Tesda-Negros will then evaluate the provider’s’ capabilities in providing training services.

This fund urges the Negrenses to avail these programs that will equip them necessary skills for livelihood and employment.

First Summer Tech Festival to be Held in Bacolod

A first ever Summer Tech Festival will be housed in Bacolod city. The tech festival was initiated by The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology(BNEFIT) which goals to reach 60,000 IT jobs not only in Bacolod but the whole Negros Occidental. This was eyed to increase their current employment by 50 percent. The said tech festival will be on April 24 to 29.

The five-day event will have different activities which includes Primer on Creative Design Workshop, Women Tech-makers Meet-up, DevCon CodeCamp: Python, Secrets of My Software Success Seminar, Team and Project Management Workshop, PROXOR Examination for Top Programmers and a Fellowship day on the 29th.

The BCDTechFest will be held in collaboration with the city and provincial governments, with various agencies and organizations including the Department of Communications and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, DevCon and Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center.

The City after hosting last year’s first Negros Island Game Festival is looking forward for another successful event for them to boost their IT Sector.

NLEX, Pampanga’s Best Naming Rights Agreement for San Fernando Interchange

Pampanga’s Best was given the naming rights to the North Luzon Expressway’s (NLEX) San Fernando interchange for an undisclosed amount during a simple ceremony here on Monday.

The deal was signed by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) and NLEX Corp., President-CEO Rodrigo E. Franco and Pampanga’s Best, Inc. President Angelo D. Hizon, Jr. at the Widus Hotel in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. Maria Theresa O. Wells, Chief-of-Finance of NLEX Corporation and Angelica O. Hizon, Sales and Marketing Director of Pampanga’s Best, Inc. served as witnesses to signing of the agreement.

With the signing of the agreement, the junction will now be known as the x “San Fernando Pampanga’s Best Interchange.”

The agreement also signals the start of the 10- year partnership between NLEX Corp., previously known as Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC), and Pampanga’s Best aims in creating a strong and positive impact on stakeholders.

The Pampanga’s Best brand will now be added to the interchange structures as well as to the 19 directional signs along the NLEX bearing the name San Fernando.

Renato U. Ticzon, President of NLEX Ventures Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLEX Corporation, said “Pampanga’s Best Inc. is the first food company to partner with NLEX. Being a catalyst of growth in Pampanga, it suits well for the naming rights to its home city, San Fernando.”

On the other hand, Rodrigo E. Franco, President and CEO of MPTC and NLEX Corp. said that the naming agreement is more than just building a brand image. Hence, it will create a legacy with the hopes of passing it from one generation to the other through the reflection of Pampanga’s Best in NLEX structures.

Pampanga’s Best Inc. President Angelo D. Hizon regards the partnership as a timely tribute to the brand as it celebrates 50 years success in incorporating genuine and high quality Kapampangan taste in the Philippine food industry.
