DOTr wants LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project done in 2019

The expected completion for the LRT Line-1 Cavite Extension project is the last quarter of 2021, however transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade wants the project done by 2019 or 2020. The immediate completion of LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is for the benefit of thousands of commuters who take LRT-1.

Secretary Tugade said that the assumption of construction is 8 hours a day but he wanted it to be 24 hours a day without sacrificing quality of construction.

Under the project, eight stations will be constructed, these stations are Aseana, Mia, Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, Dr. Santos, Las Piña, Zapote and Niog Station in Bacoor, Cavite. The completion of this project will help the commuters, cutting down their travel time from 2 hours to 40 mins.

LRMC said that the project will doubly hard to complete the LRT-1 extension project earlier than its expected completion.

“As early as now, were are getting involved in the procurement process. As we have said, imagine, we inherited three kinds of trains from the previous government. There are trains from Belgium, Korea, Japan. There are more to come perhaps with different configurations, it will be hard for us. As to the issue on parts, maintenance and other specifications.” -LMRC administration
